Even with a readiness among parents to use baby wipes, there is limited clinical evidence that can be used to assist parents and healthcare professionals in choosing between water and cotton wool and an appropriately formulated baby wipe, for the cleansing of buttocks for newborn babies. This study details the equivalent effect of baby wipes on skin hydration when compared to water and cotton wool, offering reassurance to parents who choose to use baby wipes, and to healthcare professionals who support their use.
