  • Exceptional purity: We have set our standards so high that less than 25%* of aroma compounds used in fragranced consumer products meet our criteria. Additionally, Less than 2%* of global cosmetic ingredients qualify for our baby products, each selected for a specific, purposeful role.

  • Designed for tolerance: Our fragrance blends are designed for tolerance, minimizing allergens and irritants and allergy tested for delicate skin. All cleansers undergo rigorous NO MORE TEARS® testing, confirming they are as mild to the eyes as pure water in cases of accidental splashes.3

The science of scent

Fragrance in Johnson's® Baby products is safe and gentle. Fragrances are purposeful for baby's social and memory development, including boncir and engagement.

Research shows that gentle, familiar scents can help calm babies, reduce stress (lower cortisol), improve sleep quality, and even support bonding and social development. Babies bathed with fragranced products show more engagement cues like smiling and eye contact compared to unscented alternatives.

Stronger bonds between baby and parents8: Scents and emotion are linked in the brain because is processing. center (olfactory cortext) is located near the emotion center (amygdala)

Calmness, sleep and stress reduction9-11: Purposeful fragrances have been shown to help babies prepare for bedtime, lower cortisol levels and promote longer, deeper sleep

Social and memory development7,12: Babies bathed with scented products show 30% more engagement cues like smiling, verbalizations and mutual gaze, versus babies bathed with unscented products

Sensorial stimulation

Importance of sensorial stimulation. Bath-time and massage routines help create strong sensorial experiences.

How does the sense of touch impact healthy baby development?  A baby’s sense of touch begins to develop while they’re still in the womb, and it contributes to the maturation of their other senses. Positive interaction through touch has benefits for babies and parents.2

What exactly happens when baby and parent interact through touch? Within the first 3 years of life, there is rapid development of most of the brain’s neural pathways involving communication, understanding, interactions with others, and emotional well-being. When parents and babies interact through touch, baby shows more positive emotions, like smiling. Plus, both parents and babies experience less stress and form stronger connections.2,6

Why do you add a hypoallergenic fragrance to your products? We carefully select a hypoallergenic fragrance on purpose. Purposeful scents play an important role in bonding with parents, lead to 30% more potent engagement cues, and can be linked to reduced cortisol.2,6
