Managing Dentine Sensitivity
Open dentine tubules are the largest contributing factor to dentine sensitivity. Patients with exposed and permeable dentine and dentinal tubules are susceptible to sensitivity. Upon stimuli, fluid movement within tubules can cause pain and discomfort in patients.
The number and diameter of dentine tubules increase from the outer surface to the inner junction, increasing the likelihood of sensitivity worsening over time with loss of dentine.
Periodontitis, gingivitis, erosion, abrasion, or tooth fracture result in exposure of dentine and ultimately lead to dentine sensitivity
Dentine Sensitvity is common among Arab populations.
LISTERINE® Advanced Defence Sensitive is formulated for sensitive teeth
LISTERINE® Advanced Defence Sensitive features potassium oxalate crystal technology:
Potassium oxalate binds on dentine surfaces and inside tubules to create crystals
Upon deposition, these crystals block fluid movement, reducing dentine sensitivity, discomfort, and pain
Twice-daily rinsing with mouthwash helps provide deep, stable, tubular occlusion.
